🔒 In short

Cliché collects no data. Everything happens on your phone. Your photos never go anywhere, ever. No tracking, no analytics, no server. That's the whole point of the app, not a box we ticked.

The honest version, in one minute

Cliché is a photo and video sorting app. It was built to do the opposite of most "cleaner" apps: it doesn't watch you, doesn't send you targeted ads, and collects nothing about you.

In practice: Cliché has no server. There's nowhere, on our side, for any data to land — because that place simply doesn't exist. Everything you do in the app stays on your iPhone or Android device.

What Cliché does not collect

We'd rather start here, because the list is… the whole list:

• No account, no sign-up, no email required.
• No advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android). We don't even ask for tracking permission (no "App Tracking Transparency" prompt), because we don't need it.
• No analytics, no cookies, no third-party trackers, no audience measurement.
• No location, no microphone, camera or contacts access.
• No usage data sent: what you sort, when, and how much never leaves your device.

Your photos and videos

This is the most important point, so let's be clear: no photo, no video is ever sent anywhere.

• Sorting happens directly on your camera roll, read-only, on your device.
• The smart scan (duplicates, blurry photos, screenshots…) runs locally, on your phone's chip. No image is sent off to be analyzed.
• Video compression also runs locally. The video passes through no server.
• Sharing a session recap creates a card with your stats (media sorted, space freed…), never your photos.

When you delete a photo, Cliché asks your system (iOS or Android) to move it: it goes to "Recently Deleted" (iOS) or the trash (Android), where you can recover it for about 30 days. Cliché never deletes a photo behind your back.

What stays on your device

Cliché keeps a little information locally only, never transmitted:

• Your stats and achievements (media sorted, space freed, months completed…).
• Your preferences (theme, language, set-aside photos…).
• An internal random identifier, generated on the device, used only to link your achievements to your install. It's tied to no identity and never leaves the phone.

All of this is stored in the app's private space, via the system's local storage. If you uninstall Cliché, this data goes with it.

The "Export my stats" feature creates a simple JSON file, on your device, that you alone choose to share (or not). That file contains only numbers — never photos.

The permissions we ask for

• Photo access (iOS: Photo Library · Android: photos and videos) — essential: without it, Cliché has nothing to sort. You can grant access to only a selection (iOS limited access) if you prefer.
• Internet connection — used only to complete a purchase (see below) and to open the store page when you want to rate the app. Everything else in Cliché works offline, airplane mode included.

What we never ask for: location, ad tracking, microphone, camera, contacts.

Notifications: Cliché never sends you a notification. No reminders, no streaks, no email. Gamification comes to you only when you open the app.

Purchases and promo codes

Purchases (Basic, Pro) are handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). They process the payment — we never see your card number or banking details. We only receive, from them, confirmation that you've unlocked a given version.

Promo codes are also redeemed through the App Store or Play Store.

For these operations, Apple and Google are responsible for their own processing. Their policies:

What about ads?

As of today, Cliché shows no ads and includes no ad network.

No server, no transfer

Since nothing leaves your device, there is no data transfer — not within France, not within Europe, not anywhere. There's no database to hack, no cloud to leak. It's the kind of security we prefer: the kind that comes from storing nothing.

Children

Cliché is not specifically aimed at children and, in any case, collects no data about anyone, minor or not.

Your rights

The GDPR gives you rights over your personal data (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection…). The good news: we hold no personal data about you, so there's nothing, on our side, to access, correct or delete.

• The app's local data is yours to control: you can erase it from Settings → Data → "Delete my local data", or by uninstalling the app.
• Data tied to your purchases is handled by Apple and Google: exercise your rights directly with them.

If you still feel your rights aren't being respected, you can contact your country's supervisory authority — in France, the CNIL (cnil.fr).

Changes to this policy

If Cliché evolves, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Since we don't send you email or notifications, the best habit is to come back and read this page if the topic matters to you.
